Gamma Lambda

gamma_Lambda2Members of CSU's Gamma Lambda chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Alpha Epsilon welcome you to this great organization, as well as the Criminal Justice Department. ACJA-LAE is comprised of individuals from all levels of the collegiate echelons, as well as professional members. Membership into this organization will enhance your knowledge of criminal justice, while at the same time providing an experience that will last a life time.

General membership

General membership into Lambda Alpha Epsilon is a privilege that is bestowed only to those individuals who are willing to learn more about the criminal justice discipline. Upon acceptance into ACJA-LAE, members receive:

  • Membership certificate
  • Membership card
  • Membership pin
  • ACJA-LAE sticker
  • National journals, newsletters
  • Job information

We also award scholarships every year from among our members who apply for them.

Requirements for membership
Criminal justice majors are encouraged to join ACJA-LAE. The requirements for membership vary from chapter to chapter, but the Gamma Lambda chapter requires that (1) you declare yourself a criminal justice major, not a minor and (2) maintain a 2.5 grade point average.

Quick Facts 

Founded December 18, 1937 at the City Hall in Hayward, California.

Barbara Feister was the first female member of ACJA-LAE in 1950.


First police competition of ACJA-LAE took place in 1964.

ACJA-LAE has over 200,000 members nationwide.
